Stopping Domestic Abuse Together (SDAT)

SDAT Initiative

SDAT is a collaborative initiative led by Derbyshire Police, in partnership with Social Services, Health Services, schools, and other agencies, aiming to safeguard children and adults.

Types of Domestic Abuse:

  • Psychological
  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Financial
  • Emotional
  • Impact on children and young people

Witnessing domestic abuse can be distressing for children, leading to serious emotional and behavioural issues, such as:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Reacting disproportionately to loud noises
  • Physical complaints like tummy aches
  • Bedwetting and challenging behaviour at school
  • Aggression and poor self-worth

Children may also experience a range of emotions, including guilt, anger, fear, and isolation.

What is SDAT? SDAT is an early notification system for schools, informing them of any domestic abuse incidents where police have attended. This helps schools identify changes in a child's behaviour and provide necessary support.
